Champagne Phal B de Beaufort

Getting busy in Bouzy is Brigitte Beaufort with her Champagne label ‘Phal B. de Beaufort‘. With 14 plots located 100% in Bouzy (4 hectares of vines located in the municipalities of Bouzy, Ambonnay and Tours-sur-Marne) and delivering Grand Cru micro-cuvées vintages the Champagne house also holds Viticulture Durable en Champagne (Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne) and Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value) certifications.

This is a fresh, young brand founded just a handful of years ago in 2008 by Brigitte and is a family affair business, Champagne Phal B. de Beaufort offers exclusive cuvées, between 5,000 and 6,000 bottles. Discover their wines here.

Convinced that the promotion of Bouzy terroir goes through the production of bottles under her (Brigitte) own name, she now wishes to transmit her identity’s DNA through strong and noble values above

Another fine lady leading a Champagne brand, there are many doing so which inspires many others to follow, Brigitte was previously an IT analyst though follow the passing of her husband she re-trained and entered the world of Champagne production.

Each label is numbered which appeals to many Champagne enthusiasts, for the tasting I carried out I had 0049 of 1230 bottles, already you feel you have a unique wine (of course, all bottles are unique you will say, but numbered limited editions feel even more special).

Champagne Phal B. de Beaufort – Grand Cru Origin’ Elle 2009 Brut Nature – Tasting notes: “This Champagne has an incredible 9 years of lees ageing. The nose is a blast of zesty yellow fruits from citrus to apricot, it is most refreshing initially with a gradual emergence of red berries and pastry notes with length in the glass. There are many layers expressed in the flavour of this Champagne with a once again zesty / mineral style at first that mellows to deliver acidic red berries / citrus / white floral / flaky pastry and a dry, crispy length. The wine improves immensely, in my honest opinion, with more time in the glass and as it reaches a room temperature.
