The Tropical Oak Cocktail

Welcome to The Tropical Oak, a new and made up bar I’ve just invented, would you like to try our special cocktail, The Tropical Oak Cocktail, if so sit down, relax and listen to a couple of terribly good jokes, while I prepare your drink.

“A jumper cable walked into a bar. The bartender said, “I’ll serve you, but don’t start anything!” – Ethan

“A neutron went to a bar, he asked the bartender how much for a beer, the bartender said, ” For you, NO charge.” Anon

An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar. The first one orders a beer. The second one orders half a beer. The third one orders a fourth of a beer. The bartender stops them, pours two beers and says, “You guys should know your limits.” – Matthias

What did you think? Did you laugh? I hope you found at least one of them funny, now it’s time to introduce you to the two main ingredients that go into making The Tropical Oak Cocktail, the Sparkling Wine, all the way from Austria and then the Rum, let’s start with the Fizz.

Austrian Sparkling Wine – Harkamp

“Respecting nature, allowing the vine and its grapes to express their character, that is our philosophy.” Harkamp Winery

This Harkamp Sparkling Wine also took part in an experiment we did to see how much toastiness can be in a glass of Sparkling Wine, you can check out the article and video here: Toasty Levels in Sparkling Wines

Harkamp – Brut Reserve Tasting Notes

Aroma – “👃Green fruits, biscuits, oaky and toasty, with a creaminess on the aroma.”

Flavour – “👅Green citrus, green fruits and toast on the palate.”

This Austrian Sparkling Wine Won a Gold Medal in the Oaky & Toasty Category at the Glass of Bubbly Awards 2020.

The Rum – Cabal No. 1513 Aged Rum

A team of 32 people came together to create Cabal’s Expression No.1513, with another Rum on the way this Autumn, there are promising things on the arisen for this Rum company, to create their Rum, they brought together customers, trade, professional and skeptics to try their different versions of rum and got their honest options, the Cabal team also keep an eye on what is being enjoyed, by whom and what is wanted in flavour and aroma in the spirit industry, they really sound like they craft what the people want, now let’s see if all that work has delivered the hyped-up experience that’s wanted.

Tasting Notes – “A creamy, caramel, oaky expression on the aroma. Burnt oak, roasted caramel and a spicy character on the palate.”
