An Italian Fizz Cocktail
1st April 2021
Campari and Italian Sparkling Wine, two very popular Italian drinks coming together to create a tasty cocktail.
Italy is a divine country with a lot of heritage and tradition and when visiting another country it is important to embrace those traditions, for that is one of the reasons you are there, although not all of us have the luxury of living in Italy with views, of vineyards, Rome or the Venice rivers, we can create an Italian Cocktail to enjoy ourselves, so let’s use two highly liked Italian drinks, Campari and Italian Sparkling Wine.
Campari is an Italian alcoholic liqueur, it was first invented in 1860 by a man named Gaspare Campari in Novara, Italy. The drink was originally coloured with carmine dye, derived from crushed cochineal insects which gave the drink its red colour, which doesn’t sound too appealing! The first production plant for Campari was opening in 1904 in Sesto San Giovanni, near Milan, this is when the drink started to leave the Italian border, it was first exported to Nice in the heart of the French Riviera. When you look at it today, Campari is now enjoyed in over 190 countries.
