Raspberry Fizz Cocktail

The sweet and delicate taste of the raspberry has been enjoyed by millions across the globe throughout history and today I combine that taste with a bottle of Sparkling Wine and create a fitting cocktail for you to enjoy.

Five Facts

  1. There are over 200 species of raspberries in the world with them having different colours from red, purple, golden, black and yellow.
  2. There are anywhere from 100 to 120 seeds in every average raspberry.
  3. During 2018, 870,209 tonnes of raspberries were produced, with 19% of that total being produced by Russia, they were followed by Mexico, Serbia, Poland then The United States.
  4. Humans have been enjoying the benefits of raspberries since prehistoric times.
  5. Raspberries weren’t just eaten, they were used for medical reasons with them being used to clean teeth and to treat sore eyes. but these treatments have never been proven.

The Sparkling Wine – Johann Kattus

Johann Kattus, this Austrian Sparkling Wine story started with Johann Kattus in 1857, when he started the company, he first distributed wine, Champagne, coffee, tea, tropical fruits & spirits. The Kattus Sparkling Wine range began with his son, Johann Nepomuk Kattus in 1890. There have been generations of the Kattus family running the business and it’s still going strong.

Flavour – “Herbal and fruit flavours including red apples.”

This Austrian Sparkling Wine Won a Bronze Medal in the Light & Fruity Category at The World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly Awards 2020.

The Cocktail – The Sweet & Sour Raspberry

Ingredients

  • Raspberries
  • Sparkling Wine
  • Raspberry Sugar
  • Raspberry Purée
  • Raspberry & Elderflower Gin

How To Make The Sweet & Sour Raspberry

  1. Dip the rim of your glass in water and then place in your raspberry or normal sugar.
  2. Blend together 75mls of water, 2 teaspoons of sugar and about 12 raspberries.
  3. Pour your raspberry purée into your glass.
  4. Pour in 20mls of raspberry and elderflower gin.
  5. Top up with your Sparkling Wine.
  6. Place a couple of raspberries on the rim of your glass and enjoy this raspberry cocktail.

Aroma – “Raspberry and Elderflower aromas.”

Flavour – “Sweet raspberry from the sugar rim combined with fresh raspberry and Elderflower flavours. Good expression of the raspberry from dry bitterness to sweetness.”
