Christmas Liqueurs From Aldi

Aldi has brought some Christmas themed Liqueurs to their shelves this year including a Candy Cane Gin, Caramel & Hazelnut Rum and a Pear, Cranberry & Cinnamon Vodka, in this article I’ll see if they taste as good as they sound and also create some simple cocktails with the Liqueurs and a Prosecco.

All three Liqueurs are available right now from Aldi, they are all priced at £9.99 and can be bought in store or online.

Candy Cane Gin Tasting Notes

Aroma – “It is the exact aroma you would get if you put a Candy Cane to your nose, the smell has been captured perfectly, it is simply marvellous, if you love Candy Canes, then you will love this Gin.”

Taste – “The taste is of a Candy Cane but not as prominent compared to the nose, it’s light and moreish, it is definitely not as sweet as the nose would have you believe.”

Caramel & Hazelnut Rum – Tasting Notes

Aroma – “Initially you get the Caramel on the nose, but if you wait a couple of seconds the Hazelnut comes through.”

Taste – “A warm feeling of creamy Caramel with a hint of Hazelnut within.”

Pear, Cranberry & Cinnamon Vodka – Tasting Notes

Aroma – “The Cranberries and Pears have come together this Christmas Season to create a delightful aroma with the Cinnamon giving it a little sweeter touch.”

Taste – “The Cinnamon shines through much more in your mouth than it did on your nose, you then get the Cranberry and Pear flavours come through.”

Giusti Rosalia Prosecco

Giusti has been around making wine since the 1600s, so they have a lot of experience, they currently have six Sparkling Wines available for you to try.

This Prosecco is made with the Glera grape, from vineyards located in the Veneto region.

Giusti Rosalia – Tasting Notes – “Yellow apple and pear on the nose. A relaxing light and fruity taste in the mouth. A Silver Medal Winner in the ‘Light & Fruity’ Category in The World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly Awards 2019.”

Cocktails

I didn’t want to create a complicated cocktail, I wanted these cocktails to be easy to make, so if you finished one glass, you could just simply create a second, as I have three liqueurs, I’m going to get three glasses, add in the liqueurs and then pour in some Giusti Prosseco.

Giusti & Candy Cane Gin Cocktail – Tasting Notes

Aroma – “The Candy Cane still delivers that know it anywhere aroma with a hint of green fruits in the background.”

Taste – “A smooth and easy to drink Candy Cane cocktail once again with hints of green fruits in the background from the Prosecco.”

Colour – “The pale gold colour of the Prosecco turned into a light pink once the Candy Cane Gin was added.”

Giusti & Caramel & Hazelnut Rum – Tasting Notes

Aroma – “A strong Nutty Hazelnut aroma with hints of Caramel on the nose.”

Taste – “A marvellous fizzy Hazelnut cocktail, it’s not an overpowering drink, it is smooth and delightful.”

Colour – “The pale gold colour of the Prosecco turns golden once the Caramel and Hazelnut Rum is added.”

Giusti & Pear, Cranberry & Cinnamon Vodka – Tasting Notes

Aroma – “Cinnamon with a hint of green fruits on the nose.”

Taste – “The Cinnamon and Cranberry are the two flavours that come through the most on this combination with distant green fruits from the Prosecco.”

Colour – “After both the Prosecco and Vodka had been combined, the pale gold had a hint of pink to it.”

Aldi’s Christmas Liqueurs will definitely add a little bit of the festive spirit into your glass this year, my favourite Liqueur on its own would be the Candy Cane Gin, just for how much it reminded me of the real thing, but my favourite cocktail combination would be the Giusti with the Caramel & Hazelnut Rum, the level of nuttiness and that little bit of fizziness was perfect.
