Glass of Bubbly were pleased to be part of this years ‘Celebrity Golf Classic’ that supports The Presidents Sporting Club and the registered charity The Essex Disabled Sports Foundation.

It was a glorious hot summers day that greeted the event and all the wonderful people involved in making this worthy event happen to include the main two sponsors The Player International and Platinum Palace. The magnificent Hanbury Manor Hotel and Country Club, part of the Marriott Group, hosted the event on their wonderful golf course and a host of fine celebrities took to teeing off in groups with the aim to top the leaderboard.

Glass of Bubbly had sponsored the first hole and arrived early to erect their gazebo and have Champagne on ice ready to serve the 36 teams of golfers as they tee’d off. well known and loved faces visited our ‘pop up Champagne bar’ for a glass of bubbly to include Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, Sir Trevor Brooking, Ray Clemence, Nigel Mansell and many, many more.

Golfing is thirsty work, though usually it is at the 19th hole, but how can we resist a glass of Champagne on the 1st!” one of them said as the Champagne was flowing and we were very happy to be supported by a fine grower label on the day that was Champagne Roger-Constant Lemaire where they supplied countless bottles of both their Brut and Rosé that were being popped and poured. I have visited this family grower label many times myself and I must say that their range is a great example of a small family owned label and I have a special liking to their rosé which many people on the day also fell in love with.

The Champagne served on the day was the Cuvée Trianon Brut and the Rosé de Saignée from Roger-Constant Lemaire and both Ali who works in sales for the brand and myself were there to pour countless glasses. If you would like to find out more or to order this Champagne then please contact Geri Conroy via [email protected] / 07921 102711.

The president’s Sporting Club / EDSF (registered charity No.1001176) has now raised over £2 million which has been donated to schools and organisations to provide sporting facilities and opportunities for disabled children. The money raised each year is used to provide sports equipment, coaching and tuition, the hire of sports halls and the funding of outings and adventure type holidays. Mike Jackson MBE (Chairman of The President’s Sporting Club) along with the support of Andie Jones from The Player Magazine and Simon Warr * Paul Kennedy from Platinum Lace were the main people behind this year’s event.

The day ended with a black tie evening reception and dinner to include charity auctions, presentation of the day’s prizes and raffle and including the company of a very fine English chef:
