For you mango lovers out there, here is a cool way to enjoy a piece of mango with your next bottle of Sparkling Wine.
The Fascinating Mango Story
Where do we get the word mango from? It has a long history, we got the word from the Portuguese word ‘manga’ they got the word from the Malayan word ‘mangga’ who got the word from the Tamil word ‘mankay’ which when broken down, the man represents the mango tree and kay represents the fruit.
The first time the English version of the word ‘mango’ was spoken would have been during the spice trade with South India in the 15th and 16th centuries, but its story starts way before that.
Indians have been cultivating mangoes for more than 4,000 years, where the Western world has only been enjoying it for the last 400, but the mango story goes back even further, scientists have found fossil evidence that indicates mangos date back 25 to 30 million ago.
