A Classic Austrian Meal & Sparkling Wine from Austria

Sometimes you just need to try something different, it doesn’t need to mean going out and trying new hobbies or meeting new people, it can be as simple as recreating a delicious dinner from another country.
Austria
With a population of just under 9 million, Austria is located in Europe, completely landlocked, bordering 8 countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Liechtenstein, Slovenia and Slovakia.
The country contains fairytale castles and palaces along with The Tyrol which is the western Austrian state in the Alps.
The Capital of Austria is Vienna, the official language is German and their official name is the Republic of Austria, which is called Osterreich in German, which translates to ‘Eastern Kingdom’ or ‘Eastern Empire’.

The Austrian Dishes
Tiroler Gröstl – A popular Austrian Meal, consisting of Beef, Potatoes, Onions and a fried egg.
How To Make Tiroler Gröstl
- Boil the beef for two and a half hours.
- Peel, slice and boil the potatoes.
- Dice up an onion and fry in a frying pan.
- Then add the beef and potatoes into the frying pan and brown.
- While this is happening, fry an egg in a different pan.
- Once they have finished cooking, place the meat and veg onto a plate and put your egg on top.
- Serve & Enjoy!
Apple Strudel – known as Apfelstrudel in Austria. This is a popular and beloved apple pastry dessert in Austria, the first recipe for this Strudel dessert was written in 1697.
