Choosing Bubbly to go with Your Chocolate Easter Eggs
20th March 2017
Easter’s coming up, which means one thing… lots of chocolate.
Why let the kids have all the fun? Treat yourself to some chocolate paired with a glass of bubbly! Chocolate with sparkling wine can actually be quite a tricky pairing if you want to get the best match, but there are ways to make the most out of the flavours.
Sweeter
A sweeter sparkling will marry the sweetness of chocolate much better. Try a demi-sec such as Laurent-Perrier Demi-Sec or Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec,
Lighter
With easter eggs, you’re more likely to get milk chocolate which is better paired with a lighter bubbly such as Prosecco or Cava. Villa Sandi Prosecco Treviso Doc, Bisol Jeio Brut Sparkling Prosecco NV or Cava Llopart.
Fruitier
Something with fruitier flavours can complement the chocolate really well. Consider a rosé sparkling wine. Try these English rosés: Exton Park Pinot Meunier Rosé, NV, Wiston Rosé NV, Ridgeview Fitzrovia Rosé and Camel Valley Pinot Noir Brut.
