Welcome to this new spooky series, where we choose a film and create a fitting Cocktail to go alongside, I’ll give you a little history into each film and the know-how to create a delicious Cocktail.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre consists of 8 released films and 1 unreleased film, the first film was marketed as based on a true story, but they were not, they did this to try and attract a wider audience, the character Leatherface, along with some minor story details were actually inspired by the real murders of Ed Gein who is also known as Butcher of Plainfield.

The All American Massacre film was meant to be a spin-off from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, it was directed by William Hooper, the son of Tobe Hooper who directed the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre film, the projected started out a short 15-minute movie, but this progressed to 60 minutes in its production between 1998 and 2000, despite being completely finished the film was cancelled and never released.

Although this film may never be seen by any of us, they did release a teaser & trailer, so we can see what we could have got.

The Sparkling Wine

Aroma – “Black and red berry aromas.”

Flavour – “There is a sweetness all the way through, which fades towards the end, you also get an underripe blackberry flavour and some very subtle spice. It reminds me of a glass of mulled wine.”

The Whisky

Oxford Malt Whisky called Lord Randolph, is a handcrafted Malt Whisky that is distilled from grain to bottle at Black Bottle Distillery, each bottle contains 700mls.

Tasting Notes: “Dried apricots and vanilla cake.”

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Cocktail

Ingredients

Red Sparkling Wine 200mls
Whiskey 15mls
Simple Honey 25mls

How To Make The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Cocktail

Honey Simple Syrup – Heat one part water and one part honey in a saucepan for 5-10mins.

1. Grab a glass and pour in 15mls of Whisky
2. Pour in 25mls of Honey Simple Syrup
3. Pour in 200mls of Red Sparkling Wine
4. Rub some Red Berries around the Rim of the Glass

Tasting Notes

Aroma – “An initial hit from the Whisky which is then softened by a subtle sweetness.”

Flavour – “A warming rounded flavour with a honey texture, red and blackberry flavours from the Teranova Penina Red Sparkling Wine, with the Whisky finishing with a light punch at the end, a relatively relaxing cocktail, a polar opposite to the films.”
