First Date Slovenia Easy to make Valentines cocktails

The Perfect Valentine’s Day Cocktails

It’s the most romantic time of the year, so it’s only right to have some romantic Cocktails to enjoy with your loved one.

Valentine’s Day

Celebrated on February 14th every year, Valentine’s Day is also, but less commonly referred to as Saint Valentine’s Day or Feast of Saint Valentine.

Cupid is the Roman God of love.

The origins of Valentine’s Day is believed to have come from the Roman festival of Lupercalia, this festival celebrated the coming of spring in mid-February along with paring men and women together by a lottery system. At the end of the 5th century, Lupercalia was replaced with Valentine’s Day by Pope Gelasius I of the Catholic Church.

Roses are the ancient symbol of beauty and love.

The first Valentine’s Day cards were printed in the late 1700s and the first time Valentine’s Day was commercialised in the United States was in the mid-1800s.

Valentine’s Day Cocktails

To make the perfect Valentine’s Day Cocktails we need some Award Winning Sparkling Wines, we have two award winning wines in the First Date Category and one from the Gastronomic Category, from The World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly Awards 2019.

I’m going to make 3 easy and fun Valentine’s Day Cocktails, where the common ingredient in all three is Strawberries, the only thing you will require is a blender.

I’ve chosen to use three Slovenian Sparkling Wines for these Cocktails.

Fun fact about the country Slovenia, it has love in the name – SLOVEnia.

Strawberry Kiss

Strawberry Kiss

The only other kiss you are going to want on your partner’s lips is the Strawberry Kiss.

To make this Cocktail you will require a blender to create a Strawberry puree, simply place 4-5 strawberries into a blender with a little juice, I used a lemon and strawberry juice to try and keep the strawberry flavours.

The Sparkling Wine I’ve chosen for this Cocktail is the Simčič Penina Brut, a SLOVEnian Sparkling Wine, it won a Bronze Medal in the Gastronomic Category in The World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly Awards 2019.

Tasting Notes

Aroma – “Honeycomb and peach.”

Taste – “A pleasing balance of bold dry yellow fruit flavours, with a nice softness in the length.”

Ingredients

  • Strawberries
  • Juice (Strawberry & Lemon)
  • Sparkling Wine (Simčič Penina Brut)

How To Make Two Strawberry Kiss’s

Chocolate Delight

Chocolate Delight

This is one of the best ways to combine chocolate and Sparkling Wine.

This Cocktail is quite simple to make and ends up looking really delicious and tastes lovely too.

The Sparkling Wine I’ve gone for in this Cocktail is the Čarga 1767 Donna Regina Brut Nature 2013, a SLOVEnian Sparkling Wine that won a Bronze Medal in the First Date Category in The World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly Awards 2019.

I also chose a delicious raspberry and rose gin liqueur to add in a more romantic flavour, rather than going for a gin with a higher alcohol content to avoid too big of a kick.

Tasting Notes

Aroma – “Honeycomb and yellow stone fruits.”

Taste – “Dry green fruits and citrus.”

Ingredients

  • Strawberries
  • Chocolate ( I would recommend dark chocolate for a richer taste)
  • Raspberry & Rose Gin Liqueur from Manchester Drinks
  • Sparkling Wine ( Čarga 1767 Donna Regina Brut Nature 2013)

The Raspberry & Rose Gin Liqueur from Manchester Drinks is available exclusively in Home Bargains stores nationwide and it will only cost you £8 per bottle

How To Make Two Chocolate Delights

  1. Get about 4 pieces of chocolate, put them onto a plate and place in your microwave until they turn all gooey, there’s no exact time, just keep an eye on them, stop the microwave to check how gooey they are if you need to.
  2. Take your glasses and place the rims into the chocolate, make sure the whole rim is covered, then wait for it to set.
  3. While waiting for that, take two strawberries and dip them into the melted chocolate, make more if you would like.
  4. Before the chocolate strawberries set, place them onto the glasses as your garnish.
  5. Pour in a shot of Raspberry & Rose Gin Liqueur.
  6. Top up with Sparkling Wine.

Chocolate Delight Tasting Notes – “This Cocktail reminds me of a Turkish Delight in that you get a powdery rose flavour sensation initially from the Manchester Gin Liqueur, along with a soft lemon fruit length. Then you are drawn into licking your lips after you have tasted the Cocktail, whereupon you get the rich chocolate flavours as an extra treat.”
