How To Make A Spicy Sea Dog Cocktail

It’s always fun to experiment with creating new and enjoyable Cocktails and although there are a lot of places to help you with that, nowhere does it better than Aldi, allowing you to obtain a great library of Spirits, Liqueurs and Sparkling Wines.

When creating a new Cocktail, you need to have 3 things in mind.

1. What Goes In Your Cocktail

This will affect the taste and aroma of your Cocktail.

2. How It Looks

Sometimes the way you put your liquids into the glass can change the way your Cocktail looks, you’ll also want to look at garnishing your Cocktail with the appropriate garnish.

3. What It’s Called

You don’t always get to see the Cocktail you want to order on a menu, so you might need to rely on the name, normally the ingredients will help someone decide, so if you can grab their eye with an interesting name, that can definitely help someone choose and enhance their experience when enjoying your Cocktail.

There are two ways someone will experience a Cocktail, it depends on whether they get to see a picture of it first, if they don’t see what the Cocktail looks like then it will go like this:

  1. The Name of the Cocktail
  2. What’s In It
  3. How It Looks
  4. How It Smells
  5. How It Tastes

If they do get to see a picture, ‘how it looks’ will come first.

And from Aldi, we are in the deep blue sea, aboard the ship of Old Hopking, transporting spiced rum across the Caribbean Sea.

Creating The Spicy Sea Dog

1. Dip the rim of your glass into some water.

2. Put some Nutmeg & Ginger onto a plate and run the rim of your glass in the spices to create a garnish around your glass.

3. Pour in 30ml of Old Hopking Sea Dog Black Spice Rum.

4. Top up your glass with Vina Gjerkeš Sparkling Wine.

Tasting Notes

Aroma – “Sweet vanilla, nutmeg and a hint of ginger with an oakiness.”

That concludes our voyage, but we will be back sailing upon the high seas with more Cocktails in hand very soon.
