How To Make A Fizzy French Martini
12th March 2020
Whenever we think of a Martini, we think of James Bond, but what you may not know is that the French have their own version of the Martini, made a little differently, we decided to make one, but we also decided to add in some Sparkling Wine to fizz it up.
The French Martini
The origin of the French Martini dates back to the 1980s, it was first created at one of Keith McNally’s New York City bars, other than that, I can’t say much more, I couldn’t find out who first made the Cocktail or the exact year it was created.
The Sparkling Wine – Roland Van Hecke
As we are making a French Martini, it’s only right we use a French Sparkling Wine, I could have gone for a Champagne, but I’m going to try something different, with a bottle of Domaine Roland Van Hecke – Crémant de Bourgogne Cuvée Chardonnay.
In 1988, on the border between Burgundy and Champagne, Roland Van Hecke decided to plant 5 hectares of vines, he went for two different grapes, he planted 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 Chardonnay in the heart of the hillsides of Châtillonnais.

This French Sparkling Wine won a Bronze Medal in the First Date Category at The World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly Awards 2019.
