How Does Ice Cream Pair With Sparkling Wine?
17th August 2021
Do you remember those times where you’re at the beach and your mum or dad asks you if you want ice cream, your eyes lit up with excitement craving that sweet cold creamy milky taste, whether you went for a whippy or were asked the question you would always spend too long thinking about even though you always went for the same of what flavour do you want?
The Oppo Brother’s have managed to bring back some of that childhood wonder and excitement with their morishly delicious ice cream, with more flavours than you could ever enjoy in one day, they have done something truly amazing here and I’m fortunate enough to be able to taste and enjoy their ice creams, so without further ado, what flavour would you like?
The Oppo Brothers
The Oppo Brothers were founded in 2014 by two Brother’s, they’re on a mission to create the world’s best ice cream, without damaging the planet and without requiring you to consume a load of calories to enjoy their ice cream.
Their ice cream flavours are beautifully crafted together with the likes of their Colombian Chocolate and Hazelnut combining the perfect amount of creamy chocolate and that tiny but impactful nutty crunch from the hazelnut, all their ice creams tubs deliver on their flavours tenfold, they taste fluffy, soft, smooth, creamy, milky and exactly like the flavour on the label.
Considering how delightful and morish these ice creams are, they only cost £3.99 per tub or per box, which isn’t a lot at all, they also offer free delivery if you order 6 or more.
The Ice Cream and Sparkling Wine
As this is Glass of Bubbly, it was inevitable that we were going to try pairing this gorgeous ice cream with some Sparkling Wine.
Ice cream and Sparkling Wine aren’t a combination that happens often, the ice cream will normally overpower the Sparkling Wine with its creamy milkiness, but this time we decided to bring in some extra sweetness with help from our allies in Georgia.
We have 4 medal-winning Badagoni Sparkling Wines from Georgia, all packed with a sweetness ready to work with the ice cream to create a perfect combination.
Here is our tasting where we quickly go through the Sparkling Wines (so the ice cream didn’t melt too much) and then pair some the Sparkling Wines with the ice creams to see whether this extra sweetness is what it takes to help Sparkling Wine Pair with Ice cream.
