Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque

In 1902 Emile Gallé, master glassmaker from the famed school in Nancy and ‘Art Nouveau’ exponent, was called upon to design the decoration for 4 magnums of Perrier-Jouët Champagne. He conceived a floral design of anemones outlined in gold, as if describing the floral notes, sheer perfection and richness of Chardonnay wines from Cramant.

The bottle languished in a cupboard in Cellar master André Bavaret’s office for 60 years.

It was in 1964, a superb vintage in Champagne, that Sales Director Pierre Ernst decided to produce a bottle based on Gallé’s magnum design for Perrier-Jouët’s super-premium blend, thereby creating ‘Belle Epoque’.

Floral Champagne of rare finesse with a Chardonnay hallmark. The elegance of the cuvées echoes that of the Art Nouveau anemones adorning the belle Epoque bottle and offers moments of pure delight and beauty.
