Fruity Gin and Prosecco Cocktails

Caorunn Zonin Fresh Fruit Cocktail

When the sun is proudly boasting its warm rays outside is when that temptation strikes us to pop into the garden/balcony with a glass of chilled wine and savour the warm atmosphere. For many, an upgrade to that glass of wine will be an injection of some bubbles and if we wish to take things further we will start to think about cocktails… I hope you are on this same journey with me!

Cocktails can be simple and effective or complicated and fun and on most occasions, you can prepare them easily and quickly at home with ingredients that many of us will have about the kitchen. Though there are thousands of cocktail recipes by industry professionals, you can simply experiment at home and see what floats your boat even if you are combining just two or three ingredients.

For me, if you have a chilled bottle of sparkling wine / Champagne, some gin to hand and a selection of fresh fruit then you have the magical ingredients to make something fun and special for you and your guests to enjoy. Fresh and fruity, crisp and thirst quenching, fruity cocktails can make an ideal summer bevvy that will rub shoulders with the likes of that iconic jug full of Pimms or Sangria.

One of our close gin labels, Caorunn, sent us a sample bottle of their new 54% Highland Strength so we felt we must prepare a quick cocktail at the office to combine some freshly chopped fruit and Prosecco.

Caorunn 54% Summer Fruit and Prosecco Cocktail

A simple and quick recipe to follow and with a mixture of ingredients to both allow us to enjoy refreshing fruit flavours as well as the punchy flavours from the gin.

Ingredients:

  • One serving of Caorunn 54% Volume Highland Strength Gin
  • Finely chopped fresh strawberries
  • Finely chopped fresh honeydew melon
  • Slice of fresh lemon
  • Ice cubes
  • (if required – a splash of Elderflower sparkling water)
  • Prosecco (extra brut)

Recipe:

Make sure you have plenty of ice ready and have a chilled bottle of Prosecco. Opt for an extra brut label which will allow you to enjoy a crisp flavoured sparkling wine with subtle fruity flavours thus allowing the natural flavours from the fresh fruits and the gin to express themselves (we used Zonin Prosecco DOC Extra Brut).
