A Trip To Champagne Frerejean Frères

Our first stop in Champagne was at Frerejean Frères, The Frerejean Frères winery is in the Côtes des Blancs village of Avize, in the middle of the Champagne countryside.

We stayed the night at their new guest house planned to host journalists, In the morning we enjoyed a lovely French breakfast with Didier Pierson, the Champagne maker.

After breakfast, Didier gave us a lovely tasting of their range and then a tour of their cellars.

Frerejean Frères new house is remarkable, with 3 homely bedrooms, a big living room, big dining room, a modern kitchen, 3 bathrooms plus 1 extra toilet downstairs and on the third floor, a pool table.

After a comfortable night’s sleep, we were treated to croissants and bread for breakfast.

After breakfast, Didier gave us a perfectly structured tasting going through their range of fine Champagne finishing off with their Rosé.

Their cellars are within the grounds, I could look out the window of my bedroom and see the stairs leading down into the cellars.

Before we departed for the next winery, we got to see their labelling operation, watching the labels being added to the bottles and then bottles being placed into a wooden or cardboard box ready to be shipped to countries worldwide.

We also got to see their new house being built for consumers wanting a unique Champagne tasting experience with overnight accommodation, they’re expecting the building to be ready to receive customers early next year. I would highly recommend anyone looking to visit Champagne to stay here and discover the wonderful Champagne they produce.
