Pol Roger – Champagne buried alive yet survived

A recent discovery of Pol Roger Champagne was literally unearthed only recently when part of a past collapsed chalk cellar was dug out to reveal the pre 1900 bottles. The cellar was said to have collapsed back in 1900 and taken with it many barrels and bottles produced and stored at the time.

The current cellar master Dominique Petit of Pol Roger will leave the company in April 2018 and will be handing over to Damien Cambres who will resume the excavation and recovering of potentially more bottles.
