Ginger Ale Fizz Cocktail

After discovering the plentiful flavours of Ginger Ale, I felt in the mood of creating a cocktail, after some research, I decided to use some Slovenian Sparkling Wine, Gin and Mango Juice along with the Ginger Ale.

But as always it is good to have an understanding of what you are dealing with, so I did some research into Ginger Ale and this is what I found interesting.

Credit where credit is due, it is most likely due to Thomas Joseph Cantrell, an Irish apothecary and surgeon, who claimed to have invented ginger ale in the 1850s in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Thomas created the older style of golden ginger ale, which was dark in colour and sweeter in taste. But there is another person recognized for the creation of Ginger Ale, a Canadian John J. McLaughlin who was a chemist and pharmacist, in 1904 he began adding flavoured extracts into his soda water, the same year he created Pale Dry Ginger Ale which got patented in 1907 as “Canada Dry Ginger Ale”.

Canada Dry Ginger Ale became very popular very quickly, it also gained popularity during Prohibition in the United States. Dry ginger ale quickly became number one over golden ginger ale, today golden ginger ale is a more uncommon drink, while dry ginger ale is produced on a large scale across the world.
